Pigs in a blanket - this is the second recipe in the Easy Kid Recipes Series. With the help of a parent, you can make these tasty pigs in a blanket for lunch. Or, make them as part of a family dinner; choose two of your favorite yummy vegetables to serve with them, and dinner is ready.

Lets gather all the ingredients needed to make pigs in a blanket:
1 can of biscuits 10 biscuits in a can
5 hot dogs
Slices of cheese, optional
Things you will need to make this recipe:
Baking sheet
Small knife
Plate for the hot dogs
Plate for the biscuits
Rolling pin
Flour
Pastry mat, optional
Lets Cook
Turn the oven on to 350 degrees, and let it preheat. Some ovens will make a beeping sound when the correct temperature has been reached.
CAUTION:
Knives are sharp; please be careful.
Anywhere you touch in the oven, will be HOT!
The baking sheet will be HOT, when you remove it from the oven; be sure to wear oven mitts.
In fact, wear oven mitts whenever you put something into the oven, as well as when you take something out of the oven.
Step 1:
Open the hot dog package, take out 5 hot dogs, and place them on a plate. Next, put any leftover hot dogs into a dish, and return them to the refrigerator.
Step 2:
Open the package of biscuits, place them on a plate, and separate the individual biscuits.
Step 3:
Using a small knife, cut the hot dogs in half; see picture. You will now have 10 pieces of hot dogs.
Step 4:
Sprinkle a small amount of flour on the cabinet top, or a pastry mat, as well as some on the rolling pin. Take one biscuit, place it on the floured surface, and then turn it over, so you will pick up some flour on the other side. Using the rolling pin, gently roll out the dough to make it larger, about double its original size. If the dough tries to stick to the rolling pin, gently peel it off, and sprinkle a small amount of flour on the rolling pin.
Step 5:
On the rolled out biscuit, place a piece of hot dog. Roll the hot dog in the biscuit dough, until the hot dog is wrapped in dough. Where the biscuit dough meets, and overlaps, press the dough together. If you like, you can divide a slice of cheese into four pieces, and place one piece of cheese on the biscuit, before adding the hot dog. This is very tasty, but unfortunately, most of the cheese melts out of the roll and onto the pan.
Step 6:
Place the hot dog, covered with biscuit dough, onto a lightly greased* baking sheet. Make sure to put the side, where the dough overlaps, onto the pan. Continue making all the pigs in a blanket. *(This means to place a small amount of vegetable oil, or butter [about 1 teaspoon], on the cold baking sheet, and using a very small piece of paper towel, spread it over the pan.)
Using oven mitts, carefully place the baking sheet, with the pigs in a blanket, into the oven. Set the timer for them to cook for 15 20* minutes. Keep watch on the pigs in a blanket, and when they turn a nice golden brown, they are ready to come out of the oven. *(Cooking time is not exact, since some ovens cook faster than others.)
Step 7:
Using the oven mitts, cautiously remove the baking sheet from the oven, and place it on a hot pad, or a trivet, so it will not damage the cabinet top. Allow the pigs in a blanket to cool slightly, before removing them from the baking sheet and placing them on a serving plate. This is easier to do if you use a spatula.
