Wild animals complete the essential food cycle that we are a part of. When you endanger species; you inadvertently mess up the entire food chain. The reasons for endangering species could range from hunting to looking for more land area.
Being an exponential problem, endangering species breaks the flow of food chain and leads to utter chaos. In fact, if we carry on with the same pace of endangering species and unsettling their habitats, it won't be unusual to see Leopards in our backyard and crocodiles in our swimming pools.
One of the most spectacular of species facing such complete negligence and human cruelty is Tiger. Having been declared an endangered species by WHO and wild life preservation fraternities around the world, Tigers face the worst risk of being extinct. The numbers are depleting day by day and there is unfortunately no check on the reasons for such endangering.
Let's have a look at a few reasons for endangered species, most particularly the Tiger
Disturbing the Natural Habitat
Tigers are found across different habitats such as the snow-covered mountains, evergreen forests of Siberia or the humid jungles of Indonesia. The degradation and fragmentation of forests are the two prominent reasons responsible for the rapid downfall of Tiger population.
The loss of habitat is a grave danger for the tiger, especially in South and Southeast Asia. Human beings have greatly invaded the natural habitat.
Poaching for Monetary Gain
Illegal killing is also one of the reasons for endangered species. As most of them are exotic, poachers get a high price for their skin and body parts. Tiger skins have been poached for a long time now. The marvellous striped skin has been in demand for fur coats, wall hangings and rugs. The poacher's target the tigers for their bones and other parts of their body to fulfil the huge demand for pseudo-medicinal usages. What is even worse is how poaching a female Tiger brings down the endangered animals further.
Poor Law Enforcement
Weak law enforcement is another significant reason for endangered animals. Though there are many nations that prohibit the sale and purchase of any kind of items related to endangered species such as Tiger, animal made products are easily available in a few countries. There is a plenty of evidence that points to the fact that Tiger-based medicines are still easily accessible despite the announced bans. So until unlawful trade can be checked, endangered species such as Tigers will remain under serious endangered animal threat.
While we may look for more reasons for endangered species, the biggest reason remains as us, humans. With least care for the environment and animals in it, we only have ourselves to be blamed. After all, if there was no demand for skin and other animals parts, there definitely will be fewer reasons for endangered species to fight for survival.
