Diuretics increase the amount of urine, bowel movement and perspiration, which aids in the removal of toxins from the body. This removal of toxins or body cleansing can be administered to canines too. Diuretics for dogs can be incorporated in their daily diet in small amounts mostly depending upon their size. There are different types of natural diuretics which are mainly classified as natural herbal diuretics and natural food diuretics.

There are many natural diuretics for dogs in the form of herbs which can help them overcome several diseases and illness, which are mostly related to their digestive system. Herbs have medicinal value which can prove to be very effective and safe, however, natural herbal diuretics should not be given to dogs on a regular basis.

Also known as a reproduction tonic, raspberry leaves have certain astringent properties which help in treating diarrhea. This tonic should only be given after consulting the vet.
Burdock: Burdock is a natural body cleanser which helps in blood purification, improves digestion and increases sweating, flushing out all the body toxins. It is also beneficial for treating skin diseases and arthritis in dogs. As burdock is a healthy food with no toxic side effects, it can be given to dogs in liberal quantity. Decoction of fresh or dried burdock root can be mixed with your dog's food. Alternatively, a strong tincture of fresh or dried root in glycerin can also be used.
Natural Foods as Diuretics
Natural foods that act as diuretics contain both vegetables and fruits which are very beneficial for a dog's health. These include:
Okra: Okra is found mostly in warm climates and is beneficial in curing intestinal problems in dogs, as it is a rich source of sodium.
Melon: Melons have a good amount of purified water content which helps the functioning of the kidneys and also helps in the treatment of stomach problems.
Papaya: Papaya is a rich source of vitamin A, C, E, calcium, phosphorous and iron which heals any digestive problems the dog may be suffering from. It also acts as a natural supplement.
